I took this picture of a butterfly today. I don’t have my field guides with me, so I have not made an attempt to ID it yet. What I found remarkable was when I zoomed in on the photo and saw its tongue:
I like that. I had no idea a butterfly’s was so long (well… my tongue is longer, but not relative to my body size).
I also captured an image of these two beauties:
I think both of these are lady bugs, with the green one being a freshly-minted adult. I’m sure I’ve read that their color changes as they mature, but I have no reference handy for that at the moment.
