Today Beth and I took the two hour drive up to Conway so she could ride on a train. We did this with Jonathan and David in Scranton PA when they were her age, so it was only fair that Beth got to have the same experience. She had a blast.

We went to the Conway Scenic Railroad, which was featuring a “Day With Thomas”. We got a 25 minute ride with “Thomas” pulling the coaches. It was pretty OK! Beth sure enjoyed it anyhow.

After the train ride, we hung out and took in the other activities they had to offer. One of those things was checking out an African Spurred Tortoise:

Another was meeting Sir Topham Hatt:

We stayed about two hours, and then hopped in the car in search of some lunch. We stopped at a McDonalds (her request), but the line was long and slow, so we bailed. I was pretty sure I had seen another nearby during the trip up there. I was apparently wrong. We drove for an hour, finally stopping for Pizza at Zachy’s Pizza in Meredith. That was far better than McDonalds any day, but by the time we finished lunch, it was almost 4:00pm! Bad dad! Bad dad!

As soon as the food arrived, all was forgiven though. Maybe the sack of Cheetos helped?
