I walked to Sandogardy Pond with David, Beth, and Penny today after church. We went late in the afternoon, because early in the afternoon we had a small thunderstorm. I looked outside, heard the thunder, and decided to nap through it. Then when I woke up, we headed for the pond.
I took pictures of maybe two dozen blooms on that trip. I saw one plant I did not know:
I didn’t have any trouble identifying it when I got home though – it’s Chelone glabra (White Turtlehead). It had already been entered into the Bloom Clock, so all I had to do was log it.
Tomorrow we go to Scott and Tiffany’s wedding. The reception will be potluck, and it looks like it’s going to be about a 90 minute drive from our house. Before we go, I’ll need to make up a bunch of semaphore flags – I’m going to be too busy to do that before I need them Wednesday when I teach the Communications honor. I also need to make up a chart showing a human skeleton, with blanks for kids (and adults!) to label for Monday when we do the Bones, Muscles, and Movement honor.
